Tagup attended CIGRE’s GRID of the Future Conference in Atlanta this week, and won the paper competition for Advanced Technologies and Asset Management Technical Track.
Tagup data scientist Sam McCormick presented his winning paper “Using Machine Learning to Quantify the Impact of Weather on Transformer Failure Risk”. Sam demonstrated that Tagup can measure how weather patterns, like severe storms, flooding, and heat waves, affect the lifetime of critical grid infrastructure.
Incorporating this additional input, Tagup’s models will improve long-term planning for utilities and ultimately lead to a more resilient grid.
Sam will have the opportunity to present at the CIGRE Grid of the Future international conference in Paris next August.
